CHARACTERISTICS OF TECHNICAL ROPES AND STRINGS MADE FROM POLYPROPYLENE SILK A technical rope made from polypropylene silk is characterised by its lightness connected with relatively low specific gravity (0.91 g/ccm). The ropes do not sink in water and they only absorb water on the surface (low hygroscopicity of fibres). As a result of slight absorbing capacity and small shrinkage they do not change their dimensions and hardness when affected by weather conditions. They remain stable up to the temperature of 100 C and the melting point is 165 C. Their properties include very good acid, alkali and salt resistance. The ropes are also resistant to destructive effects of ultraviolet sunrays and they show very good weather resistance. |
